5 Easy and Healthy Breakfast Meals for Kids Before School

5 Healthy Breakfast Meals for School KidsMornings are the most busiest time of our day.

Parents especially are the most in a hurry. Was not able to cook or prepare breakfast for our young ones.

But we cannot be blamed for being so busy, always in a hurry and mostly exhausted. Being at work all day and working things out at home occupies all the time, a reasonable excuse for us not preparing breakfast.

Parents tend to just grab anything they can from the pantry or drive them on a fast food chain for breakfast.

  1. Whole Grain Cereals – this is one of America’s most favorite breakfast. Cereals are very easy to prepare and it saves a lot of parents time. Whole grain cereals on the other hand are way healthier as it has more fiber to prevent constipation, helps weight management and reduce the risk of heart disease.

Cook\Prepare Time:  3 minutes
Ingredients:  Whole Grain Cereals (brand of your choice), Low Fat Milk
How To:  Help your child pour it on a bowl and enjoy.
Tip:  Let your child choose a cereal of his favorite and teach them how much healthier whole grains are so they will consider getting one.

2. Oatmeal with fruits – this food contains both soluble and insoluble fibers. Fibers that helps to lower cholesterol and stabilize blood glucose levels.

Cook\Prepare Time:  5 minutes and less if ready to eat oats  used
Ingredients: Oatmeal (brand of your choice), Low Fat Milk, Fruits like banana, strawberry or any berries
How To:  Pour the oatmeal on the pot with the milk, cook for 3 minutes or until cook, add some fruits and let the kids enjoy.
Tip:  You can also add a little bit of salt or sugar to taste. as well as nuts if they are not allergic.

3. Pancakes or Waffles – per serving will give you substantial amount of fiber and proteins especially if you use Whole Wheat flour. Kids loves pancakes, this will make them feel full until lunch break which will help them focus more. It has also fiber content for good digestion.

Cook\Prepare Time:  10-15 minutes
Ingredients: Whole Wheat Flour, Egg, Baking powder, Low Fat Milk, and some blueberries
How To:  Mix all the ingredients, pour it on a pre-heated pan with a little bit of unsalted butter, once you get some bubbles flip and cook the other side. Serve it with some eggs and bacon.
Tip:  Do not use too much sugar, butter and syrup as it will all add up some calories.

4. French Toast Wheat Bread – this food is very rich in fiber and proteins which are both good for our body.

Cook\Prepare Time:  10-15 minutes
Ingredients: Wheat Bread (Store bought or you can baked the night before), Eggs, Milk, Nutmeg (optional)
How To:  Mix all ingredients and soak one loaf on the mixture, heat up non-stick skillet and lightly grease it. Place the bread on the pan and cook it until brown and no visible egg mixture.
Tip:  Top it off with fresh fruits like bananas, and less powdered sugar.

5. Omelets – this recipe is very nutritious breakfast. It contains protein, vitamins and calcium needed by our kids to face the day at school.

Cook\Prepare Time:  10-15 minutes
Ingredients: Eggs, Milk, Vegetables (carrots, bell peppers, spinach), ham or sausage and cheese
How To:  Beat the eggs add some salt and pepper to taste while pre-heating the pan. Pour the egg mixture and let it set. When top surface of eggs is cook and not liquidly, add on the vegetables, meat and cheese filling on one side of the omelet. Flip and cook the other side and serve immediately.
Tip:  You can choose of any fillings you want on your omelet ask your kids what’s their favorite.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for our young ones as they need energy and nutrients for the whole day at school. If they get proper and healthy breakfast they can focus more with their studies.
