It’s been a while since we started attending Jiu Jitsu classes.
We learn so much everyday from take downs to escapes and different submission techniques of Jiu Jitsu.
As we go on with our trainings, we realized this combat sport is a good exercise too.
For starters, the warm up itself is a very good exercise, drills and grappling surely will test your physical capabilities.
Jiu Jitsu works on the whole body’s flexibility, strength and speed.
Flexibility – you will learn how to be flexible without doing or any background of yoga. There are routines done like lunges, downward dog, stretches and other curling poses during warm up time. The Jiu Jitsu techniques require some flexibility especially when you do submissions like the triangle choke.
Strength – like some other workout and crossfit exercises Jiu Jitsu will also bring out your inner strength and capabilities to survive. The Jiu Jitsu drills will make you get stronger as you learn to use your mental and physical power. They say that once you’ve learned and acquired Jiu Jitsu skills, you can use less strength and more techniques.
Speed – like running or jogging this sport is a good cardio too. If you are fast enough to pass your opponent’s guard or fast enough to do the mount positions surely you’ll gain advantage. Only make sure to stay in control and be accurate on doing the techniques otherwise mistakes will be done. In Jiu Jitsu speed is awesome especially if your are running out of time, yet patience is always a key to a great technique execution.
There are so much health benefit and techniques to learn in Jiu Jitsu, it takes time to be an expert but surely will get you into shape and fitness you’ve wanted as you go on the trainings everyday. Like I said, it is a good exercise too!
