Did you ever promise yourself to be on a diet and nothing happen? Oh well as they say promises are made to be broken.
After pregnancy I gain so much weight and there is no easy way I know to lose it. Diet doesn’t need promises it needs actions but I have million of reasons to fail it. Taking care of my kids are so tiring, there are so much house chores to do and even no time for yourself. Until my husband encourage me to go to the gym, I discovered how heavy I am and how hard to work out. I tried cutting carbs and eating healthy to lose some pounds, working out almost everyday helps but then laziness attacks and excuses became a habit until I realized I went back to my old self – eating so much (stress eating) and having not enough sleep.
How I went back? Well, it takes some will power and a good husband being persistent on convincing and mocking me at the same time to get fit and stay healthy.
Yes, I have to start on something. Here are the things I did and still doing these days;
- From coffee everyday to 1-2 cups a week – try some lemon water which is better I think or tea is a great substitute to drink especially in the morning.
- Rice everyday to 2-3 times a week – I’m trying to get rid of rice during weekdays and just have it by weekends (reserved for cheat days). I substitute it with whole grain bread, sweet potatoes or stir fry vegetable.
- Workout from nothing to 2-3 times a week – body pains and bruises are my proofs of hard word. And now since its summer I trained almost everyday 5 days a week.
- Sleep from 4 hours to minimum 6 hours – I have a bad habit of staying late watching TV series, so for me to get to sleep on time I shouldn’t watch TV 1 hour before and just close my eyes and sleep.
- From junk foods to fruits – I started eating avocados, watermelons and kiwi as snacks. The more you satisfy yourself with fruits the more you will get indulge.
And now I’m trying my best and increasing my healthy options hoping to reach my goal someday.
Get up and start your own journey into fitness. Healthy parents will benefit your children, be their role model.
