Basketball: Story at a Glance

April 5, 2016 By: Katycomment

BasketballWhy do we like Basketball?

Our family likes basketball as it is so fun to play and watch our favorite teams.

We had lived in different states like Houston where we watched our first NBA game, San Francisco where we got to watch the Warriors, and so on. Our favorite teams are LA Lakers and SFO Golden Warriors.

To be able not to miss a game we always get the “TV all season pass” despite of not having a cable connection at home – thank goodness of the smart TV.

Our kids especially our eldest son loves this sport and even wanting to play it when they grow up. In fact, we do have a couple of basketballs and 2 boards at home. Knowing the height requirement, we are just happy that our kids got interested and enjoys it.

To know about this sport, here are some information:

Basketball is a sport played indoor and outdoor with two teams consists of five players each. It was first created year 1891 in Massachusetts by a professor.

The goal of this game is to score points by shooting the ball into the opponents basket where 3 points is the highest.

There are rules and regulations of this game, also officials to run it.

In basketball, each team has different positions like the “Point Guard” – who is responsible leading the team on offense, “shooting guard” – who make 3-points shots and so on.

5 Fun Facts

#1. The first ever basket used to play is a peach basket nailed in a pole.

#2. Year 1954 is when the shot clock rule started.

#3. Before there is no maximum player of this game, until they change and created rules.

#4. Bob Pettit is the 1st NBA MVP awardee way back season 1955-1956

#5. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar won the NBA MVP award for 6 times

Every season, people are rooting for their own favorite teams and players. Basketball is now the second most popular sport in the world.
